Piperacillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. This β-lactam is almost exclusively used in combination with the beta-lactamase inhibitor Tazobactam for the treatment of serious infections, including hospital-acquired pneumonia, and infections caused by anaerobic Gram-negative rods. Piperacillin is given by intravenous or intramuscular injection.

Stable isotope labeled [D₅]-Piperacillin is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of Piperacillin by LC or GC-mass spectrometry.
