Macimorelin acetate
Macimorelin acetate (Macrilen) is a Growth Hormone Secretagogue (GHS) causing the release of Growth Hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland. It became the first EMEA (2019) and FDA (2017) approved GHS to diagnose Adult GH Deficiency (AGHD). Macimorelin boasts an oral formulation for ease of administration for patients and providers. Macimorelin is a mimic of ghrelin, a growth hormone secretagogue (GHS or GHRP). It binds to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) causing release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland.
