Ionizable Ergosterol

Ionizable ergosterol is a newly developed sterol derivative designed for incorporation into the formulation of LNPs aimed at organ-selective mRNA delivery applications. While conventional four-component LNPs primarily deliver to the liver, the addition of ionizable ergosterol as a fifth component enables preferential delivery to the spleen or lungs. In ALC-0315-based LNPs, ionizable ergosterol allowed a remarkable selective spleen mRNA delivery up to 95%.
