PEG lipids
PEG lipids, also known as PEGylated lipids, are PEG derivatives linked to a lipid moiety. These compounds are used to improve the circulation time of the LNPs and reduce non-specific uptakes. PEG lipids have multiple effects, such as ALC-0159 (4LSC4952), also categorized as a helper lipid, which is a non-ionic surfactant. It contains a PEG chain of 45 to 46 units and has been used in the Pfizer-BioNTech SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine.
